5th Kathina Civara Ceremony Successfully concluded at Sadhanagiri Buddha Vihara on 11th–12th October 2025.

The 5th Kathina Civara Ceremony was successfully held at Sadhanagiri Buddha Vihara on October 11th and 12th, 2025. On 11th October 2025, all participants and volunteers faced difficulties due to heavy rainfall and limited space for the 33 groups of weavers, comprising 198 individuals and 15 volunteers. The weavers came from Damdep-I, Damdep-III, Boraguisury, Chotaguisury-II, Fultuli, Silosora, Bilosora, Fulsora, Longpuighat, Borakabakhali, Moinababsora, Dursora, Chikurlui, Saibawh, and Chamdurtlang-II.
Weaving began one hour later than scheduled due to the weather. Despite the heavy rain, the work continued for several hours until the final clothes were completed. The weaving started at 5:25 p.m. on 11th October and continued until 7 a.m. on 12th October 2025. Many weavers completed their cloths by 4:20 a.m. and stopped weaving by 7:00 a.m., although a few could not finish within the fixed time. The Bhikkhu Sangha arrived late, around 8:00 p.m., from Debasora South under heavy rain. They were shivering from the cold, and many of them fell ill as a result of getting wet.

In the morning, although the sky remained slightly cloudy, it did not rain. At 6:50 a.m. on 12th October, the Bodhi Tree was consecrated, followed by the unfurling of the World Buddhist Flag at 7:30 a.m., accompanied by the Song of Triumph of the World Buddhist Flag. The Bhikkhu Sangha then recited the blessing stanza Bhavatu Sabba Mangalam. As the volunteers and weavers had spent the entire night working, only a few participated in the morning session, during which lay devotees offered Sanghadāna, Atthaparikkhāra Dāna, and Kappa Rukkha as part of the Kathina ceremony. Some laypeople also shared merits with their departed relatives.
The afternoon of 12th October was sunny, providing a pleasant atmosphere for participants and Dhamma listeners both inside and outside the Sadhanagiri Buddha Vihara hall. During the afternoon session, the monastics were warmly received with flower bouquets from lay students. The approximate number of lay followers who participated at the Kathina Civara Ceremony will be 1000. A Word of Appreciation message in the Tongchangya language was read by Ms. Gopa Tongchangya and then presented to the Bhikkhu Sangha as a token of gratitude.

A recorded welcome song related to the Kathina ceremony was also played. The main program of the afternoon began with a welcome address by Mr. Shantanu Tongchangya and Ananda Bikash Tongchangya, Chairman of the 5th Kathina Organising Committee, who gave Vote of Thanks who expressed the deep appreciation to all donors and volunteers. The lay devotees unanimously offered the Kathina robes, Kappa Rukkha, and various other donations.
Following this, Ven. Sakyananda Bhikkhu delivered an inspiring Dhamma talk in the Tongchangya language on the Four Noble Truths. The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks and a sharing of merits dedicated to the well-being of all laypeople. With the kind support of donors, weavers, and volunteers, the Kathina Ceremony was successfully completed at 4:10 p.m.
May the merits of the Kathina Ceremony and listening to the Dhamma bring happiness and peace to all living beings.
