“Tongchangya Students’ Union Holds General Meeting for Reformation of Central Executive Committee”
The Tongchangya Students’ Union (TSU) General Meeting was held on 23rd November 2024 at the RMSA Conference Hall, Damdep-III, CADC. The meeting aimed to reform the Central Executive Committee of TSU.
The programme commenced with the TSU Flag Hoisting ceremony by the Chief Guest Dg. Chari Kanta Tongchangya, follow with TSU song at 7:30 am. Later on, the programme was continuosly started Candle light by the Chief Guest and prayer by the Religious Secretary. and followed the programme continue as per scheduled with Dg. Sujoy Tongchangya delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the event. Dg. Shantanu Tongchangya, Former President, shared his journey and experiences with the union since 2009.
Eminent guests, including Ven. Ariya Jyoti Bhikkhu, Adviser TSU, Dg. Ashny Kumar Tongchangya, Adviser TSU, and Dg. Anulal Tongchangya, Auditor, TSU, graced the occasion with their presence.
Dg. Chari Kanta Tongchangya, Principal, Longpuighat Hr. Sec. School, Longpuighat, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest gave a valuable speech on students’ fraternity and community welfare.
In the afternoon session, the meeting culminated in forming the new Central Executive Committee through an election process. After scrutiny, the following candidates were declared valid and elected unopposed:
• President: Dg. Sagoto Tongchangya
• Vice President: Dg. Sudhir Tongchangya
• General Secretary: Dg. Shanti Bijoy Tongchangya
• Treasurer: Dgb. Bidya Siri Tongchangya
• Organising Secretary: Dg. Karjan Tongchangya

The newly elected President, Dg. Sagoto Tongchangya, addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to Dg. Shantanu Tongchangya, Former President for his 15 years of service and exemplary efforts. He also appealed to all attendees to work together under the TSU umbrella with the motto of Unity for collective ideas to make more strength in the near future.
Dg. Sudhir Tongchangya, Vice President, TSU, gave vote of thanks, concluding the program. Over 270 delegates attended the general meeting in various places across Mizoram State. The program concluded with cultural items and made colorful and vivid. The program is hosted by Dg. Nimisya Tongchangya, Asst. GS, and Miss Bidyasree Tongchangya, Treasurer, from the beginning to the end of the program.
